The male adult of Chaetocladius rottensis sp. n. is described based on material collected between 1998 and 2018 in glacial alpine springs and streams delimited by the upper basin of the Rhône River (Mutt stream, Swiss Alps, alt. 1800-2100 m). The nearest known alpine species are: C. aedeagolobatus Rossaro, Magoga & Montagna, 2017 and C.
